One Week ( 2008) - " A Dying man wish for seeking adventure but never dies "
Have heard about this movie some years back from a friend that this was like Motorcycle diaries and was planning to watch it from then on until recently i finally decided to download and watch it so...
Today was the day i picked this up with a much greater expectation. Movie starts of with a simple narrative style showing of
Ben Tyler ( Joshua Jackson ) inside a hospital were doctor delivers him a shocking news that he is diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and with a minimum life expectancy of a year or so if not treated. They also say its only 10% chances of his recovery rate with the treatments. Broken and shattered , ben walks away from the hospital and just keeps running directionless till the point he reaches a Bike mechanic shop where he sees the most sexiest bike Norton with a sale tag on it. So this is where he decides for a ride , a adventurous one week trip which might give his life some meaning before he would become a inpatient for cancer treatment becoming immobile..So he convinces his girl friend to whom he is engaged to and after final struggles to takes his ride to the west. So from here on , he just goes to all places without any plans but carries a mobile phone calling his girl friend everyday. He drives up his bike to greenish landscapes , lakes and meets up with many people , takes lot of pictures , stays at presidential suites in hotels and finally returns back home for treatment.
So Surely the above plot makes us feel so good and might sound as a feel good movie. But the screenplay , camerawork and editing spoiled everything. There are so many scenes not giving that continuity feel and is absurd at times to experience it. Also the director should have given more importance capturing the scenic beauty if you want to label this as a adventurous movie and screenplay damn felt like watching some low rated TV series that too with the Worthless narration at the background..that voice makes me feel sick, Crap. This is no feel good movie rather i would say a dying man last wishes as this doesn't look adventurous going around cities , staying at costlier hotels , being with women and using mobile phones every time wherever whenever he needs it. For sure anyone who enjoyed watching Motorcycle diaries with top notch cinematography and splendid visuals n BGM will have a hard time to even cross this one for first 30 min even. Sick as hell. Really felt as if watching this movie for a Week and yaa i even dont remember if this movie had any BGMs at all in it . For me , that Norton bike was the only thing liked about this Movie , So apart from it this is a worthless one IMO. This is no better then House M.D Season 08 Final episode.
