Flame and Citron (2008) Danish
Another best Danish History film from Mads Mikkelsen based on actual events. Thure ( Flame ) and Mads Mikkelsen ( Citron ) play role of assassins in the Danish resistance group who were eliminating Nazi's top people & Dane's Informers one after the other during Nazi Occupation. These Duo were considered deadly for their fearless attitude and at same time they both covered their back on all missions which was tasked to them. Their Patriotism to their country was exploited by few peoples for their own cause and how politics lead to their downfall forms remaining part of the film.
Being a film about real people this covered the facts as close as possible and flame as well as Citron action was too good in this movie. Though it was a period film yet it gave a gangster movie kind of experience while watching the way this resistance team operate and these two people body language did the rest. A calm young flame and a emotional yet aggressive Citron made a deadly combo in it except the sad ending which would be quiet melancholic. Post war and liberation , these two people were celebrated as Hero of Dane soil along with United States President Harry Truman posthumously awarding the Medal of Freedom and this movie was considered one of most expensive Danish films during 2008-2009. Movie is quite engaging and keeps the phase till the end with a wonderful screenplay. This is one of must watch historic movie not to be missed especially for people who are looking for movies during the period of Nazi's.
Additional reference : The Danish documentary film, With a Right to Kill (Med ret til at dræbe, 2003), explored some of the ambiguity related to decisions about liquidating targets, and suggested that Flammen may have been directed by a double agent in some of his executions
