வாழ வேண்டுமென்ற ஆசை இயற்கையானதே. அது என்னிடமும் உள்ளது. அதை நான் மறுக்க விரும்பவில்லை. ஆனால் அந்த ஆசை நிபந்தனைகளுக்குட்பட்டது.
ஒரு சிறைக் கைதியாகவோ நிபந்தனை வரம்புகளுக்கு உட்பட்டவனாகவோ வாழ எனக்கு விருப்பமில்லை. என் பெயர் இந்தியப் புரட்சியின் அடையாளச் சின்னமாகியுள்ளது. புட்சிகரக் கட்சியின் கொள்கையும் தியாகங்களும், ஒருவேளை நான் உயிர் வாழ்ந்தாலும் என்னால் ஒருபோதும் அடையமுடியாதவொரு உயரத்திற்கும் அப்பால் என்னை ஏற்றி வைத்துள்ளன.
இன்று என் பலவீனங்களை மக்கள் அறியமாட்டார்கள். ஒரு வேளை தூக்கு மேடையிலிருந்து நான் தப்பிப் பிழைத்தால் அந்த பலவீனங்கள் எல்லாம் அவர்கள் முன்னால் வெளிப்படக்கூடும். புரட்சியின் அடையாளச் சின்னம் களங்கப்பட்டு நிற்கலாம். அல்லது ஒருவேளை அது முற்றாக மறைந்தும் போகலாம்.
அவ்வாறின்றி துணிச்சலோடும் புன்னகையோடும் நான் தூக்குமேடையேறினால், அது இந்தியத் தாய்மார்களின் உணர்வுகளைத் தூண்டும். தங்களது பிள்ளைகளும் பகத்சிங்கைப் போல் ஆக வேண்டுமென்று அவர்கள் விரும்புவார்கள். இதன் மூலம் நாட்டின் விடுதலைக்காக தங்களது உயிர்களையும் தியாகம் செய்யச் சித்தமாயிருப்பவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை பெருமளவில் அதிகரிக்கும். அதன் பிறகு, புரட்சிப் பேரலையை எதிர்கொள்வதற்கு ஏகாதிபத்தியத்தால் முடியாமல் போகும். அதன் முன்னோக்கிய அணிவகுப்பை அவர்களது வாள் வலிமையாலும் எல்லா வகை அசுர முயற்சியாலுங்கூட தடுத்து நிறுத்திவிடமுடியாது.
ஆம், ஒரு விசயம் இன்றும் கூட என்னைத் துளைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.
மனித குலத்திற்கும் என் நாட்டிற்கும் ஏதாவது செய்ய வேண்டி சில குறிக்கோள்களை எனது இதயத்தில் பேணி வளர்த்தேன். அந்தக் குறிகோள்களில் ஆயிரத்தில் ஒரு பங்கைக் கூட என்னால் நிறைவேற்ற முடியவில்லை. ஒரு வேளை நான் உயிரோடிருந்தால் அவற்றை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்கான வாய்ப்பு எனக்குக் கிடைக்கலாம். நான் சாகக்கூடாது என்ற எண்ணம் எப்போதாவது என் மனதில் உண்டாகக் கூடுமானால், அது இந்த நோக்கத்தில் இருந்து மட்டுமே உண்டாகும்.
இந்நாட்களில் என்னைப் பார்த்து நானே பெருமைப்பட்டுக் கொள்கிறேன். கடைசிக் கட்டச் சோதனைக்காக நான் ஆவலுடன் காத்திருக்கிறேன். அந்த நாள் வெகு சீக்கிரத்தில் வர வேண்டுமென்றும் விரும்புகிறேன்.

What a movie it has been... Well executed one. Hats of to Vasanthabalan and his crew in making such a daring effort .
Lets get into the movie....
Aravan , am sure very few who watched the movie knew real meaning on it... Aravan is nothing but describing a man who is Brave , Powerful , Go do attitude . During earlier days every villages used to have their own security guards called as Aravan. They are named after the son of Arjuna, who sacrificed himself before Goddess Kali for the victory of the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra war in Mahabharata. And Vasanthabalan's story revolves around one such Aravan.
Aravan is a Movie about a community in 18th century whose main profession is to Perfom Theft , steal money and jewels for wellness of their village people. Pasupathy is a leader of that group called kambadi kottu and they follow a strict rules and guidelines given by their ancestors which is followed while planning and performing any theft.Its just how Aadhi ( Varipuli )gets into this group , gains trust of Pasupathy and who is he? How he came here and What is he running from? is all about the movie. ..Not sure if that was a authentic info passed on by the director , early days to resolve a conflict between two communities , a human sacrifice will be given to gain peace and restore everything in order.. this is one such movie where aadhi is chosen as Bali ( Human sacrifice ) to resolve community disputes after the unresolved murder of Bharath who is from Karigalan ( Villan ) community. Aadhi is given 30 days time before his head will be beheaded in-front of all villagers in presence of kind. its is that how Aadhi try to Find the murderer of Bharath > Will he be able to find the murderer and prove so he can get out of sacrifice ?
First got to really appreciate the director and cameraman for taking us back to those early days of Thenn India. After Selvaragavans Ayirathil Oruvan...i just now felt like watched a very good epic film.
Aadhi has done a tremendous job and very good onscreen performance. But at some-point , we expected some powerful action sequences as he is aravan..but nothing works out..Aadhi ellar kitteyum...varavan poravan kitteyum adi vanguvar..Bit releastic approach..but masala movie punch illa.... Still justifies his role and he had done his best on waht director expected him to do.... Dhansika had paired up with aadhi in this movie and she really did her role well.. Good combo but her presence will be only for few minutes thats all .
Pasupati been an equal important role in this movie..at-least in first half completely.. Superb acting and dialogue delivery. Fits so beautifully to the role... 60% of movie revolves around pasupathy and Aadhi. Karigalan has done a tremendous job as villain and Vijay Chander has got a good break after pudhupettai. All delivered their goods to their max.
Anjali , Archana Kavi , Bharath ellam chumma guest role..nothing much on them but avanala thaan ellam prachanaiye..... Swetha menon few min presence to the movie , is like a energy drink to the audience. Especially on how she finds the murderer ( customer ) just by holding Arnakairu ( silver thread around the waist ) is a pure class... lol :))
Karthik has done a fair bit on music and BGMs. Good while watched with the movie...Suits perfect.. Doesn't leave u bored .....
In a scene where pasupathi is treated by village people by covering his whole body with mud , ayurvedic medicene...reminds me of watching Kung fu hustle...... !! A gory and unhappy lengthy slow paced dragged ending to the movie will def disappoint all the audiences. Director could have avoided it...but yes story is story what to do.......
First off is the best part of the movie.... Pace at which the screenplay goes..u wouldnt even know unless intermission time has come...!! Good engaging first off and that too the backdrop and camera work , location of the movie matches exactly to the movie script. But second pace is all about flashbacks , sacrifice , running , ,love , sentiments all dumped into one half which feels more of a burden to the audience... konjam kammi panni irukalam. Singam puli comedy track is ok...but nothing much adds to the movie and it doesn't help.
As per movie , Once a person is chosen for human sacrifice , if he ran out of village , disappears and hides for 10 years then the punishment or the sacrifice on his head will be withdrawn.. Aaadhi successfully escapes from the scene and hides for almost 9 years and gets caught . Dhansika and pasupathy , everyone will be aluvachi for next 15 minutes and the dialogue from them to aadhi is.. " ivalavu naal poruthingaley..innomum oru varusam poruthu irukalamey..yenn vandinga.. " ..same dialogue will be repeaded by pasupathi also... Theatrela dhidhirnu oru sattham " Neenga movie oru varusam kalichi release panni irukalamey " appidunu...semma timing.and whole theatre went burst into laugh.
Overall a good attempt by the director and nice editing by srikanth...and very well committed performance by artists. Though there are negligible flaws in the movie..could have been avoided for a good perfect seamless entertainer...Anyways there is none without mistakes or flaws. Director konjam aadhiya innomum nella use panni irukalam. Movie is definitely enjoyable...
Verdict : Vasanthabalan magic worked again. He is currently tasting fruit of success in line to angadhi teru , veyil .A definite daring attempt . I would say 3 out of 5 of this movie...
