This is one hell of perfect dystopian science fiction drama ever seen. Movie starts with below title card post which a small clip in hospital followed by children in school capturing their daily life . But not for one second i would have thought that this movie would take such a turn when Miss Lucy explains reasons for their presence , a complete turnout where your senses couldnt even believe or accept the fate of those beautiful little children in that Hailsham school and their destined fate which is already written when they are brought into this world of sinners. From then on i felt that school as one Hells gate , but nothing less then that....

Title Card: The breakthrough in medical science came in 1952. Doctors could now cure the previously incurable. By 1967, life expectancy passed 100 years.

This movie is based on Organ Donation during 80's where few kids are breed in schools across the country just for one purpose , ie for organ donation when they become adults.Plot of movie revolves around three main characters Ruth , Tommy and kathy depicting their friendship , love , lust , desires within their short span of life they live in. For some to live , some has to die, this is what this movie is about. Government run authorized champs or say schools to raise cute little children from childhood providing Education food and shelter . But end of the day they are cattle's who will be sent to the slaughter house called completion center when they reach adulthood, Following that those young innocent life's will be pulled out from them in-front of their own eyes. Those kids have no say , nowhere to go but just to accept their fate and have a decent ending to their life. The term they call is "Complete" means that is when you fulfilled your purpose leaving your last breath post number of vital organs snatched from your body with your consent in name of donations. People would be donating their organs one by one with a short interval between each donations , some survive couple of donations and some die on their first donation itself but whatever it is...they will have to keep donating till they die. So with this cruel nature of life , a love triangle forms between Kathy Tommy n Ruth and their horrible fate of never ending story forms the remaining part of the story. They never wanted to let go but they had no choice then to accept and die.


More then this being a engaging movie , i would prefer it to say most disturbing , heart wrenching and resentful movie i seen. Empathizing their life and their wish to live more but the fact they couldn't just tears you apart and breaks you down. What sort of human beings are we if you are killing innocent young people for your rustic worthless shit life and what difference it makes you from a murderer. Donations means with full consent , but here these poor people had no choice. When Tommy  n Kathy meet deferrals there were two incidents were it brought more anger in me which i couldn't resist , one when Miss Emily says " We didn't have to look into your souls, we had to see if you had souls at all " and when Madame say " You Poor creatures " and i just felt damned by the way these organ donors were treated. Especially the last lines from Kathy before movie ending would bring us heaviness in heart with tears in eyes and she did made a point clear wit this little quote " What I'm not sure about is if our lives have been so different from the lives of the people we save. We all complete. Maybe none of us really understand what we've lived through, or feel we've had enough time ". This shows how those helpless souls desperate to live a day more and to breath a little longer. 


When the last hope of getting a deferral fails Tommy breaks in at mid of the road with tears down completely shattered shows how helpless they are. This is just insane when people who willing to live are been forced to accept their end proves how cruel 'n' sadistic,  people desires could be. I just couldn't digest this plot at all and i do understand in early days many innocent peoples life were taken in name of science research by secret medical organizations to understand how human organ functions and this movie is no different from it. I just wish this was all fictional and have never happened in real.But at a clip when Kathy gets into a wan which had label of a well know organization , i even doubt if it ever really existed those days. Now i would rather stop thinking about it which could easily disturb my sleep.


But apart from it , this is one hell of a excellent movie to the core and all credits for the maker Mark Romanek for pulling out such a wonder. Don't assume it to be some romance drama alone, no its not but rather much more then that.... There are only few handful movies which would leave a strong impression in you , haunting you for days n months and this movie would easily fall among that category. A must watch movie without fail and it could even be a life changing experience for some. Be prepared for what you are going to see.....but watch it with heart and Soul...!!!

Shhh.. ( 2013 ) Short Film :-

 " Fear Creates monsters, Monsters Create Nightmares, Nightmare Creates Fear..!!! Goes in loop "
 
Can a short film be this crip forcing it to stay in you for ever. This is just one of those unique masterpiece we would ever come across.This movie was inspired from lucid Dreams of monsters , depicting those nightmare's of this great director Guillermo del Toro's  during his Childhood  . Shhh... is a dark fantasy film about a young kid named Guillermo , motherless who died due to cancer living with his father and his ever bullying sister Helena. Unlike all other kids , our protagonist doesn't have a normal happy life and his nights were scary as hell filled with horror. Adding to the torture he takes from his sister who is obsessed with her hair who doesn't have time to care ,it just gets uglier When at dawn this kid also has to face his fear , while his monster awakes every-night when he has to step into bathroom to take a pee. Danger is near and this dear kid doesn't have anyone to share , the pain is more then he could bare. What does that monster wants , how our kid keeps himself away from danger and how he manages to overcome is fear forms rest of the story.


Simple and beautiful , gives a fairy tale touch pleases everyone with the way the fear was captured, sure this film is a real stunner. Not just that it also portrays the emotions , pain that kid has to go through when alone who is bullied by her own sister . This film also supports Anti-Bullying Awareness ( pinkshirtday.ca ) for the same reason. The real monster is ones fear and dreams are the place these fears manipulate itself as its working factory. As we all know GDT's obsession towards Monsters and fantasy subject. This Film gives a clue from where it could have been all started . Though GDT might have gone through sleepless nights during his childhood may be now we realize that these incidents could have been his secret for becoming such a creative director with unique set of skills and with his ability to handle fantasy subjects in a very unique way. His imaginations run deep within , were he could visualize , create n bring such a monsters , superhero characters to his films. I am sure GDT will be always a godfather for Fantasy and horror movies in lines of all other great legends out there. 



In just a 11 min video , i am sure the directors captured hearts of many audience. This is such a intense , capturing , engaging and entertaining short film and no wonder why awards are flowing in to this wonder. As they say out there , this does have Strong visuals and Solid atmosphere..!!! If you haven't watched this short film yet , i would urge you to do so...This will ever remain in my favorite list. You beauty.

A little transcript from this film , which gives us a fairy tale feel and the narrator voice was so good made us feel as if listening to our bedtime stories during our childhood days. Thanks to the makers and the creators.

Mob City ( 2013 ) TV Series :-

First'n' Second episode just started was aired on Dec4th..So first thing first..its not late to start this series...!!!



There were no days i wished to see God father \ Good fellas , untouchables kind of movies or TV Series...but seems my wish had been granted in a bigger way in form of a Stylish TV Series..!! A Perfect Neo-noir of time. This story takes us back and toggles between 1922-1947 were gangster ruled the land and Mob cops handled them below ground. This is just the story from one of those days when ganglords Bugsy Siegel , Ace Cooper , sid rothman and Mickey cohen lived.  Lets quickly see some of the characters here..


Bugsy Siegel ( Edward Burns) - A Stylish gangster , a perfect role and a perfect characterization to him .I liked his style and when he says he doesnt need favor for him and he gives favors to others. wow..awesome !! He is serious into his buisness....!!

Joe Teague ( Jon Bernthal ) well known as  Shane Walsh  on Walking Dead TV Series and he plays a important part in the series , A Good cop and a bad cop. When does a good cop become a bad cop. What pushes him to be the other.What it takes to kill a man... Is that for money or love? Thats what this is about. He has a past , he has a hidden mystery , its there in the negative he knows its  going to harm her love and how far its gonna take to protect his love. He steps up and throws himself in other side of the law. As he says His hands might be dirty but he would get a good night sleep.

Jasmine Fontaine ( Alexa Davalos ) - A lovely young girl adding colors to this entire episode She is the core to all this and she is the twist to this story and she hides something which other episodes unreveal.

Mickey Cohen ( Jeremy Luke ) - As we know his character from Recent Lawless movie , he was looked kind of funnier and short but still dont take him lightly. He is one dreaded gangster during those days...!!!

Sid Rothman ( Robert Knepper ) - As we all known him as Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell in Prison Break , he resides in a important role in this ganster family. He is fast , sharp , aggressive and especially that Restaurent scene was just goosebumps.. " Here is the cheese lady " wow wow..thats a stunner..you will know when you see it. He is cheesy too and when he says he will handle the cop in my way..wow..that shows his power to his words. Stunner. And that church confession scene when he says " How about an act of contrition and shoots the guy " mind blowing....!!

Hecky Nash ( Simon Pegg ) - A cameo role did perfectly well but ends up a loser. Sad but he brought the entire characters together and he started this episode in a style . When he says " This city. So damn beautiful. But only from a distance. Up close, it's all gutter" wow he meant that and you can see that in this eyes.cool.

Ned Stax ( Milo Ventimiglia ) a lawyer and fixer for Cohen, a former marine and been to war with Detective Joe Teague plays a pivotal role here and he marches in with a style with is funky look , silk tie , 50 shades suits he just dazzles off here with style. He has a close bond with Joe and that is what going to keep Cohen n co from Joe.

Billy the Boy Scout ( Neal McDounough )   - He reminds me of Seargant John O'Mara from Gangster squad and  Eliot Ness from untouchables . He leads the entire Cop team in style and that little flash back for why they call him Boy scout is damn cool .

There are few others too to add up to it but these are the most prominent faces we see here and its just two episodes over and so soon it took up its phase. This is damn Fiercy and powerful . For anything First impression is the best and it stays in mind for ever and those who see this series will never ever forget how this series started...!! A simple violin play to a Shootout was a complete stunner and from then on , this series made me feel on a hot seat and couldn't move anywhere.If you are one who likes gangsta flicks and especially in Neo-nior style then this should be in your must watch List. I cannot guarantee on how other episodes would be , but the choice picked for characterization and with a gripping script , screenplay with twists along the the core plot , i guess it will not disppoint us. If they could do this for just of episodes , i am sure they can pull this through for the entire series and i am going to follow this series without fail. Some things are need to be had Hot. Dont be late watching this...Watch it at the earliest. My hunch , this series is going to break all the records what GOT or Breaking bad had.....!! This is sure a stunner.


Mob City - " Mob Rules. You fear You Die. "

Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham ( 2013 ) - " Latest Torture machine "

Even the title makes no sense at all..there is nothing it relates to the topic chosen , rather it could have been as Naveena Thiruvilayadal but either ways they didnt name it and spoil this legendry movie. One of shittiest movie seen in recent times , Its full of satire and shit , in name of comedy its a complete torture even for a normally going audience. It just cant get any horrible then this..this saga of worst craps seems happening in tamil industry now. When directors are struggling for a chance and budget , these kind of worst movies are insult to their injuries. First half at-least was some what bearable but second half was like shear torture as if like we are chained to a hook in SAW movie trying to escape from the theater. Their concept to mock Thiruvilayadal movie was way too horrible and iphone, Facebook , internet , guitar used by Hindu gods is so painful to watch .

More to it these guys mock hangover 2 movie in a dialogue during second half but failed to realize that this even cant come 1% close to this movie. When they are lost in island , this movie had some scope and could have been easily twisted to a good thriller but even that was failed..!! I really not able to control my frustration and i feel typing more words itself is not worth for this movie. This is a total disgrace to the industry. To pass on a small message for Drinkers .,they could have said it at the title card itself instead why they had to make us sit on such a long movie and finally delivering this small message , unfortunately people who see this movie will have to take a drink because of the huge headpain they get post watching this film. For non drinkers this movie is not for you , for drinkers please go to the theater only at the last 5 min to see the message and you can just come out....there is nothing else in it. There is no CG works in it or hardly one or two places. VTV ganesh was only one comfort in the entire movie but even he does over react at times. Overall this is no cast away movie , neither a hangover movie or i would say this is not even a movie at all. Irrespective of all this , i still convinced myself to rationalize my thoughts to see if there was any one good thing this movie had , but unfortunate it add none and all blanks.  If you wanna punish someone, then present them tickets for this movie and send them to it. There is no better way you could take revenge on any. ooooof....Horrible and totally disappointing.!!!!

 Vidiyum Munn - " Animals hunt when darkness falls "

With so many worst thrillers in recent time , this Vidiyum Munn came out with a difference. A very silent thriller kicks off from the word go and picks up its initial phase very fast as soon as title card ends. This movie reveals life of sex worker  and  travels around two important characters Pooja as Rekha and young girl Malavika Manikuttan as Nandhini. Lets get into pros and cons of this movie.

Cons :-

1) A very normal script nothing new or different
2) First half was okay but second half dragged a bit
3) So many logical mistakes clearly noticed at the end but one has to convince ourself with suitable answers.
4) Slippery slang tamil from Pooja..irritating at times
5) Over-reaction or too much acting by that little girl. She failed to bring sympathy to that character she lived in.
6) Within 30min of the movie run , surprise element breaks and the rest of the story flows on the same path
7) It was not too thrilling as it was expected too.

Pros :-

1) Stunning visuals at every frame during first half especially . Hats off to Sivakumar Vijayan for awesome cinematography work
2) Pooja acting was good though dubbing was horrible
3) Introduction of every character into the movie was stunning
4) Though not a gripping movie but still keeps us engaging till last minute
5) The life of sex worker and underworld ganster shown really well .
6) Good BGM and OSTs , slow and beautiful fit perfectly to the stunning visual onscreen. Not too good but not bad too
7) Excellent role by John Vijay as Lankan and he really fit to the role perfectly . Soft spoken antagonist did his role really well.
8) Not to miss mention one person without whom this movie would have been that good , its none other than Vinoth Kishnan as Chinnaiah. Stunning role he did , talks less but more of a expressions , powerful and intense. Every scene he arrives movie just dazzles away. He comes only at few scenes but steals the show totally. Really a good role he played and lived upto the character .
9)The two bodyguards for Chinnaiah , mani and albert added that extra punch to Vinoth krishnan role..
10) Last 15 minutes location , set and VFX works dark clouds were all adds up to the positive side of the movie .
11) Movie might provoke lot of questions within you but the last 5 min , a twist which would explain why everything happened the way it did and satisfies the audience somewhat.

Verdict :-

A good movie from Balaji K. Kumar with a vey normal script but with a unusual presentation. Its not the script but the characters brought light to the movie . The right choice made for the character selection could have been a winning factor for this film. Visuals , BGM in this movie adds up and lives up to expectation but not exceptional. This is not a best thriller out there but not bad either. I also heard just now that this movie is a copycat of UK movie " London to Brighton " even the plot sounds similar but sad that i failed to notice any credits given to this at the title card or at the end credits. This is not something new happening here.....!! But keeping that aside this movie deserves a one time watch as it can definitely give the satisfaction for money spent.

Killing Season ( 2013 ) :-

A killing went wrong on a Bosnian war , A serbian veterans almost dead comes back alive in verge to have his revenge on a american soldier who shot him and how they both face each other run for their live like a cat n mouse game in search for redemption makes the core story of it. With two powerful actors on it Robert De Niro, John Travolta what else we could expect. De niro was cool as always is and even in this age the way he performed his acting is just amazing , this proves that the age is no limit for talent and then the broken arrow n faceoff fame Travolta was just damn amazing to capture the essence of negative role given to him . At times it doesnt hit the logic bell when John expects niro for confession but that said this movie had all to keep you at edge of the seat and finally finishing up with a happy ending. Definitely a must watch and worth every minute. Not best movie but at same time not a movie to be missed. One time watch for sure.
